Holiday DIY Cookie Sugar Scrub Recipe

The holidays are here and it's the season for sweet treats and DIY gifting. Lately, I've been crafting up a storm of Christmas decor and gifts for family and friends. One of my favorite gifts I'll be giving this year is this homemade vanilla sugar cookie lip and body sugar scrub. It's the perfect gift if you're in a pinch, gifting on a budget, or if you just want to gift something handmade. You'll be surprised how easy it is to whip this up with ingredients you already have in your kitchen pantry. This sugar scrub is made with all edible ingredients and it's delicious.

Vanilla Sugar Cookie Lip & Body Sugar Scrub

1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 tablespoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pour 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar into two separate bowls. You will combine the rest of the ingredients in each bowl. Add 1/4 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to each bowl. Mix well. The scrub should have a similar feel to damp sand. If it's too wet, add more sugar. Once mixed, layer the white and brown sugars neatly into your jar. Finish off your jar with a piece twine or ribbon tied into a bow and add a cute label. I created this adorable, personalized label using Canva.

And there you have it, a cute handmade gift anyone will love to receive this Christmas. Do you plan on giving DIY gifts this year? Let me know in the comments what you plan of crafting for Christmas.

Enjoy!

Brunch Pizza Pie

Brunch, hands down is one of my favorite meals. Brunch is awesome because you get to sleep in and have two meals in one! And who doesn't love pizza for breakfast? Here's a semi-homemade mini pizza pie I whipped up using the night before's left overs. At first I though this would pass as vegetarian but, to be exact, it's ovovegetarian since it includes egg. It's a bit of a heavy breakfast so, it's perfect for a sleepy Sunday brunch or even a breakfast for dinner night.

Here's what you will need:

Pesto
Spinach
2 Eggs
Milk
S & P
Olive Oil
Ricotta Cheese
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Maple Tempeh Bacon, chopped
Cherry Tomatoes, halved
8" Mini Pizza Crust

Mixing bowl
Whisk
Skillet
Baking sheet

Let's get cookin':

Preheat oven to 400F. Brush pizza crust with olive oil and bake for 2 mins. Mix ricotta cheese with a spoonful of pesto, just enough to turn the ricotta light green or passes the taste test. In another mixing bowl add a handful or two of spinach, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. Heat up a small skillet to medium and add oil. Fry up tempeh bacon until crispy, drain then set aside. Reheat oil and saute tomatoes. While those cook down, scramble eggs with milk, salt, pepper, and add tempeh bacon. Using the same pan add egg mixture and cook halfway. Eggs should still be runny. Once crust is done spoon a layer of ricotta on crust and top with spinach mixture. While hot and slightly runny, add egg and top with cheddar cheese. Pop in the oven for another 7 mins and wa-la! As you can see, I didn't include measurements since I usually eye my ingredients, so feel free to improvise and add more veggies.

What's your favorite meal? Comment below and tell me what you love to cook for your favorite meal.

Enjoy!

Wild & Free

Just stumbled across illustrator Katie Daisy. I've always been a sucker for flora and fauna watercolor. I absolutely adore her whimsical subjects and girly-girl color palettes. I thought this quote was fitting for my road trip to Georgia this weekend. I'm headed up to Brunswick, Georgia to stay in a magical treehouse for a night, then headed to Atlanta to dance to Old Crow Medicine Show, followed by a day of swimming in clear springs and a night camping at Ginnie Springs. I've been itching to fall off the grid, get away from the city, and be wild and free.

Tea Time Daydream

One of my favorite things to do is to daydream, it's my secret to staying sane. It surely doesn't help me get work done, but it does help me get through the day. I've currently been daydreaming about playing dress up with pretty vintage gowns and throwing a lavish tea party! Since today is a very special day (my best friend's birthday) and I am not able to spend the day with her, I will throw my own little tea party right here to celebrate!

My tea party would look a little something like this...

 1. DIY Flower crowns  - 2. Pretty tea cups & dishes -  3. Fresh flowers & lace doilies
 4. Sugar spoons -  5. Chiffon & lace dress by River Of Romansk - 6. Powered sugar & lemon squares

Dream on,

Janglin' Jade

"Yes, Jade is the girl of the hour." Meet Jade Castrinos, she's a feather in the wind with incredible talent and style.  She captured my eye after watching her sing, clap, and dance her heart out on The Big Easy Express. She is part of the soulful 10+ piece band Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. The band hopped an old train with Old Crow Medicine Show, and Mumford & Sons to embark on a "tour of dreams" from California to New Orleans.

Jade's gypsy presence is made during the opening scenes as she gracefully skips from car to car introducing each band in a floral frock, a tiny pack strapped to her back, and the cutest little bow in her hair. I love how she mixes patterns, dreamy dresses, straw hats, and a sports a spunky, adorable boy-cut. She's always keeping it girly and fun, which reminds me a lot of my own style.

The energy between the folky sprite and past-lover-front-man Alex Ebert is incredibly magical. "That's What's Up" is one of my favorite tunes off of their newest album Here. Jade's soulful, lispy voice combined with gospel hand claps and jangling tambourines never fails to give my best-friend and I the urge to cheer and leap around the house as if we were part of the 10 piece troupe. I am beyond stoked to see them when they come to Jannus Live on October 1st. Without a doubt, I'll be in front row with my dancin' shoes on!
